Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about exploring our Japanese gardens and parkland walking paths
Yes, our parkland paths are specifically designed for active older adults aged 55+. Most routes feature gentle gradients, regular rest stops with seating, and well-maintained surfaces. We offer three difficulty levels—Easy (1.5 miles), Moderate (2.5 miles), and Scenic (3.5 miles)—so you can choose what works for you.
Each season offers something special. Spring (April-May) brings cherry blossoms and new growth, summer showcases lush foliage and water features, autumn (September-October) displays vibrant maples, and winter reveals the garden's structural beauty. Most visitors find autumn particularly stunning for the colors, though spring is equally magical for flower enthusiasts.
Not at all—you don't need any special experience or advanced fitness. Our guided tours are designed for people who enjoy walking at a comfortable pace and want to learn about garden design and Irish heritage. We match you with a group at your fitness level, and our guides are trained to work with older adults.
Our guided garden explorations typically run 2–3 hours, including a comfortable pace, interpretation stops, and plenty of time to photograph and simply sit and reflect. We build in rest breaks naturally throughout, so there's no pressure to rush.
Absolutely. You're welcome to bring a friend or family member, and we also run regular group walks where you can meet other visitors with similar interests. Group sizes are kept small—typically 8–12 people—so it stays personal and you're never lost in a crowd.
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking shoes with good grip. We recommend bringing a light jacket (Irish weather can change!), sunscreen, and a water bottle. Walking poles are fine and can help with balance on gentle slopes. Don't worry if you forget something—we have covered rest areas and can adjust the route if needed.
